I've just received my offer of employment & it says to read 'The welcome booklet' & 'The business standards' - employee guide.
Theres loads to read - Do I have to read all of it, word for word ? Will I get tested to see if I have read it all ?
Also what should I expet on my welcome/induction day ? Thanks xx

Offer of employment - Welcome day
No - you don't have to read it all, no test.....
My induction (two years ago), involved a group test asking questions about RM in small groups (just general stuff about RM e.g what's the price
of a 1st/2nd class stamp etc. no need to revise!!), a board game (bored more like!) which I can't even
remember what is was about, filing in some general HR paperwork, a video about mail security (the most useful/relevant thing about the day)
a visit to the mail centre downstairs and that was about it. Actual 'training'
about how to deliver mail will be at your contracted office
(you will pick up a lot of good info on these boards from experienced posties but as with any info on the internet don't take it as gospel truth).
When you get to your office, ask ask and ask again if you're not sure or don't know.....most posties are willing to help (even if
they roll their eyes when you ask them for the third time LOL!)
Don't forget you can claim (from your contracted office budget) for your journey for your induction day if it is not held at your contracted office. 45p per mile but if you
travel by car you will need to ensure your car is insured for commute to work journeys to locations other than your normal place of work.
If you go by train/bus keep tickets or receipts to claim.
PS Most managers are only interested in making sure all mail is delivered at the smallest cost to their budgets....supervision, encouragement, advice and
leadership is somewhat lacking......
Finally WELCOME and hope you enjoy it, I do.....
