Packets on deliveries
I came back to work after a week off and have noticed that a new piece of kit has been introduced. Its a yellow metal plate that fits over a packet frame, and is supposed to be a way of ensuring only certain size packets can go into the bag.
Before this anything over shoe box size was given to the van drivers to take. The problem is the new piece of new kit lets virtually anything through, and managers are using it to browbeat posties into taking more and more packets. I will try and get a photo of it to try and make more sense of what I have said, but in the mean time has anyone else seen something fitting my description?

Re: Packets on deliveries
I've had packets no bigger than a hardback book which contain machine parts, so it shouldn't just be a matter of size.Fluke wrote:I came back to work after a week off and have noticed that a new piece of kit has been introduced. Forget what the screws say or do,it has to depend on your driver and you.
Before i went driving my guy was a diamond,he would come round our frames and take stuff if he saw it was too big,and even go through our packet bags as well.
Now that i am driving i do the same.
The relationship with my 4 walkers is very good and we all help each other out.And so does the other drivers and walkers.
In fact there is a good togetherness in my office and this helps.
Working together and scratching each others backs can make the job more bearable.
We've been 'Doing the job properly' since May so getting time out of the job is not an issue anymore and this helps.
Help each other out, chill, and do the job properly,it's the only way.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Tell ya wot... If your driver is a dickhead and plays up... Just stick ya packet in a drop bag or sack and have it dropped off at the address... Leave it on the packet table or area and then the w****r cant moan... Or it goes with the bag droppers....
IF ITS TO HEAVY OR BIG... PUT IT OUT.. DELIVERY BODS CARRY ENOUGH...
VANS ARE THERE FOR THE PURPOSE OF TAKING THE BIGGER PACKETS AND PARCELS....
