A MUM is playing detective to unravel the mystery of who is the rightful recipient of a moving Christmas letter.
The underpaid item of mail, addressed to Master Jacob at The Oval, Bingley, was posted from the Preston area but no-one called Jacob lives at the address, which belongs to Stacey Roadnight's dad Alan.
The brown envelope had a cut out picture of an angel stuck on it and the curly handwriting appears posh, said mum-of-two Ms Roadnight, 35, of Bingley.
The writer has penned five sentimental verses from a dad who has died to his "amazing" son.
Ms Roadnight picked the letter up from the Post Office after a Royal Mail card was slipped through her dad's letterbox saying a letter was waiting for collection and needed paying for.
"It scared me half to death at first when I read it because I've got a son called Jacob," she said.
"It's obviously been written by someone who means well, perhaps an older relative, who wanted to send a special Christmas message and let this Jacob know how much his dad, who has passed away, loved him.
"It's very moving. Someone has spent an awful lot of time thinking up these verses. It's full of sentiment and I'd really like it to reach the real Jacob if anyone knows who he could be."
Ms Roadnight's dad moved into his then newly-built home on The Oval about ten years ago.
Some bungalows previously occupied the site and he has had Christmas cards sent in the past to a Martha Wilkinson, which, coincidentally, is also his surname.
"The letter does mention the name Martha and some other names too. Kara, Anya and George," said Ms Roadnight.
"We think maybe Martha could've lived in one of the old bungalows before they were pulled down to make way for the new homes. That could be a link."
The letter written on card says, "That's my boy...amazing in every way" and also mentions keepsake teddies, being cuddled up safe in heavenly beds, not to worry and to watch out for little signs like butterflies and fresh blooming flowers.
