Claire and her kids came home to find boot prints on the door after the driver was said to have kicked it
Claire claims the DTT Deliveries Ltd driver, couriering for Amazon, returned three days later to their home near Mendlesham, Suffolk, wearing a plaster ranting that six-year-old jackadoodle Jess bit his finger when he pushed the card through.
After a complaint was lodged and he was let go, the driver allegedly saw red and tried to run over an Amazon security guard with a delivery van.
Co-owner of DTT Deliveries Ltd Nathan Ratcliffe said he was stunned at the former employee’s actions.
Nathan said: “I’ve never experienced anything like this before.
“We brought him back on November 30 to tell him we’re not giving him any more work.
“He kicked off, took a van, ran over a security guard and refused to return the van until the following day.”
Nursery owner Claire, 40, said when she discovered the damage to her door she visited neighbours to find out if they’d seen anything.
Claire said: “I was absolutely furious when I came home to see the boot prints on the door and rang my husband Paul to see if we were due a delivery.
“I got in touch with Amazon and the delivery company to complain about the damage to the door.
“Three days later the driver came back to drop off another delivery and was quite aggressive – he was shouting about how my dog had bitten him.
“I was on my own with my children and he was quite a tall bloke, I felt really vulnerable.
“My children Charlotte, Lucy and Molly have seen these footprints and are now asking if he will come back again.
“The company say they have dealt with him but I’m worried about him coming back.”
Co-owner of DTT Deliveries Ltd Nathan Ratcliffe said the matter had been dealt with internally.
Nathan said: “We suspended the driver after the complaint was brought to our attention.
“We’ve covered the £175 costs of replacing the lock and also sent £100 worth of Amazon vouchers as a gesture of goodwill.”
An Amazon spokesman said that nobody was injured during the ‘road rage’ incident at the site.
The spokesman said: “We take an allegation of this nature seriously and have been working with the delivery company which has been in contact with the customer to resolve the situation.”
A Suffolk Police spokesman said: "We can confirm that the incident [door damage] was reported to us. Police conducted enquiries into the incident.
"The employer said they will ensure the damage is paid for and believe the company have taken internal action.
"As the damage is going to be paid for no further criminal proceedings will be taken against the driver."
Amazon and DTT Deliveries Ltd were approached for further information regarding the security guard incident however both declined to comment.
