Car pulled up alongside and man smashed window as van driver was delivering parcels

Parcels were stolen from a Yodel van as the driver made deliveries in Middlesbrough .

The theft took place at 12.30pm on Thursday, November 24, when the driver was delivering parcels on Penrith Road.

As he got out of his van and walked towards Breckland Walk, a small grey hatchback with a partial registration of DK54 pulled up.

A man got out of the passenger seat, approached the white Yodel van, smashed the driver’s side window and stole parcels from inside.

The man then got back into the hatchback which left at speed, turning onto Delamere Road from Penrith Road.

Cleveland Police are now appealing for information - and urging drivers to be vigilant when making deliveries.

The suspect is described as a white male, 5ft 6ins tall, average build, aged 19-20, wearing dark clothing and a dark woolly hat.

A police spokesperson said: “The driver, though uninjured, was left feeling shocked by the incident and the parcels stolen were items paid for by customers which they will not now receive.

“We would like to remind the public to ensure they keep valuables out of sight and delivery drivers to be vigilant when making deliveries.”
