Penzance residents are urging Royal Mail to replace a post box, which was recently vandalised, ahead of the Christmas rush - for the sake of their elderly neighbours.
The red box on Lariggan Crescent was wrecked about a month ago, now Julian Sincock who lives nearby is fighting on behalf of his elderly neighbours - who can't easily make it to the alternative box - to get the postal service to re-instate it before Christmas.
"We need to highlight the angst that the out-of-action post box is causing to many people who rely on it, especially the very elderly residents who just can't walk quarter of a mile to another box," he said.
"Lariggan has a high population of elderly people who really rely on having a post box close by, I feel really passionately about helping them.
Julian Sincock and Olga Pannell explain why the post box is vital for Lariggan Crescent residents.
"I have reported it on numerous occasions; I can't even get Royal Mail to put a simple sign on it informing residents of the current situation - so I did one myself."
"I have seen many people read it and a couple even stopped their car today to get out to have a look so I feel quite pleased at that."

The box is next to Manns Field near the boating pool, and is built into the wall.
Mr Sincock has been adding regular updates to the post box to keep the community informed.
Mr Sincock says that he has taken the matter as high up as Royal Mail CEO Moyà Greene, who he added was very apologetic and has promised to look into the matter.
He now understands that a second-hand box could be installed in three months, which he believes is unacceptable and is calling on neighbours to keep pestering Royal Mail in order to get something to be done before Christmas.
Mr Sincock's neighbour Olga Pannell is in her late eighties and has difficulty walking. He said she is unable to make it to the alternative that Royal Mail has suggested on Alexandra Road.
Residents are demanding the box is fixed before the Christmas rush.
She said: "We want it done because it is very inconvenient having to walk to another more distant post box to post a letter.
"It is very inconvenient for people here in the whole of Lariggan.

"Being told having to up to three months for a replacement box is unacceptable - it has to be done before Christmas as it gets used a lot.

"We have all phoned up Royal Mail but nothing has changed - we all feel as if we are being sidelined as no reassurances have been given."
Cornwall Live contacted Royal Mail for a comment, this was their response: "Just to confirm with this, we will replace the box but we cannot guarantee a replacement box will be installed before Christmas.
"We would like to apologise to customers for the inconvenience however there is an alternative late collecting (17.00hrs) box within 200 metres, situated at Alexandra Road.
"There is also a box situated at Lidden Estate."
