Pontyclun will be home to one of nine temporary parcel centres that Royal Mail is opening to help deal with the increase in deliveries in the run-up to Christmas
This is the sixth year that Royal Mail has opened a dedicated network of parcel sorting centres.
Around 3,300 workers will be based at the sites, part of the 19,000 seasonal staff being taken on across Royal Mail's operations.
Cardiff, Swansea, and Llantrisant are among the Royal Mail centres hiring extra staff for Christmas.
The recruitment process has started with the temporary employees starting between mid-November and mid-December.
The temporary parcel centres are in Bathgate in West Lothian, Rochdale, Leeds, Pontyclun, Birmingham, Swindon, Greenford in west London, Atherstone in Warwickshire, and Coventry, opening on a phased basis from October 31.
