Almost there.. query about 2nd job.

So i just got through to security check now when they said i can't work for certain retail company as customer assissantant.. how is a grocery store a competitive company?? So i was planning to do my part time hours royal mail as my main job and work Sundays in retail, i like the security of having 2 jobs and the extra money and 5 year shares plan running. Is there anyone here in similar situation? either way if i have to leave and start royal mail then i will. Thanks!

I know of a colleague who works a few shifts late afternoons and evenings in a retail chain. The hours have never clashed with RM work and they are no competitor. There has never been an issue about it, he has done it very openly for a very long time. Can't see any reason why he shouldn't.

I'm curious why they said you can't do it - my contract explicitly states it's OK to work elsewhere also so long as management are told, it is no competitor to RM, and it's outside of RM work hours.

Thanks for that! That's a relief to hear! I've been working Sundays for over 10 years now and it would feel really odd to not do anything on a Sunday.
