If i fail security checks...

So im onto the final stage now, my security checks have been submitted a few days ago. Im very nervous about it as i do have a conviction that could potentially stop me from getting the job, nothing to do with theft or dishonesty though. Im just wandering, if i do fail the security checks does that mean its game over completely? Will i never be able to apply again? Or will this always stop me? It was in my teens and over 10 years ago, so im hoping they will see this and see that i have never been in trouble since, apart from a driving conviction 2 years ago.

Depends on the offence, whether you disclosed and if its spent.

It was for harrasment. Basically i was out with a group of lads drinking and one of them got into a fight with another group of lads and we ended up chasing them into a takeaway. The police came, dispersed us, and that was that. Til about a month later, when i had a knock at the door and was arrested. Ended up going to court with the other lads and got convicted of harrasment. Why they left it that long i dont know, but the laws the law i guess. It was stupid and im not proud of it. But im sure alot of us have got into stupid situations on a night out drinking in your late teens.

I have disclosed it, and im not sure if its spent or unspent. I cant remember the exact outcome but i did recieve a fine.

I just hope one night of drunken stupidity has stopped me getting this job.

Harassment for one incident, sorry that doesn't sound right. Sounds more like Drunk and Disorderly to be honest.

However, if the incident was as you described but the conviction was for that or something else 10 years ago then I can't see it affecting the security check as you disclosed it.

Under the new Rehab of Offenders Act 2014, and even before I believe your convictions are spent now. It was 5 years with no more convictions, and its now 1 year http://hub.unlock.org.uk/knowledgebase/ ... anges-roa/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I know it doesnt make sense, i dont know if its because we were outside the takeaway trying to get in and shouting abuse through the window or what. Maybe thats why? I dont know. I just know thats what we were convicted of.

So basically what you're saying its now spent and wont show up on the check?

No what I am saying is if you disclosed it there shouldn't be any problems.

I'm on the Waiting List for a job with RM but I had to fill in a DBS for a civil service job recently. I had a conviction for 'Disorderly Conduct' in the 1990's, no mention of it on the DBS certificate which came back this week. So hopefully your thing is 'spent' too.
