Royal Mail truck reportedly gets stuck under bridge in Plymouth

A Royal Mail truck has apparently become stuck under a bridge in Plymouth.

The huge lorry has come a cropper under the railway bridge on Pennycomequick Hill on the A386, near the city's train station.

It has collided with a footbridge between the A374 at Cobourg Street and

Herald reader Alex Holmes Tweeted this picture of the scene at one of the major routes into the city centre at 6.20pm on Saturday evening.

Traffic website Inrix is reporting that one lane of the A386 is blocked as a result of this incident.

Recovery work is currently taking place to remove the vehicle from the road.

Damn, feel bad for the driver it's going to be hard to defend, there's only one route through Plymouth for double deckers and that' through Mutley Plain (surely Logistics can brief their drivers?) . Seen this happen before at this same bridge about 4 months ago but the driver stopped in front of the bridge, still caused a scene blocking taffic so it could reverse.
