A union chief has slammed Royal Mail bosses for their behaviour after last month's pay negotiations, which saw postal strikes across the country.
The Communication Workers Union's (CWU) North West regional secretary accused the Royal Mail of causing "unnecessary delay to mail" in the aftermath of the dispute.
The CWU claims millions of items are being deliberately held back as part of a backlog built up during the current dispute, and criticised Royal Mail's approach to the use of postal workers following the dispute.
Royal Mail say they are doing all they can to get the service back on its feet, the backlog cleared and the restoration of the service to the public.

If Royal Mail management where really trying to restore our postal service they would have resigned years ago.
It has been management's purpose from the start to destroy Royal Mail.
They even reward each other with HUGE bonuses for ruining the business. (despite overseeing a loss in profit of over half, Adam Crozier collected over £469,000 in bonus payments taking his earnings from Royal Mail to a cool £1.6 million).
Their blaming our posties for falling standards is laughable.
I would go further and say that if Leighton and Crozier don't resign, they should be tried for fraud.
(actually, on second thoughts, high treason would be a better charge.)

Pat, the old 'Do Not Bend' joke which has been doing the rounds of the comedy circuit since Tom O'Connor first cracked it in the 1970s! You must think we were all born yesterday if you think anyone would fall for that one! What next, the old "A postman found a letter addressed to God..........." You were employed for over a year? What year was that? The UCW haven't been called that for fourteen years. Anyway, what did Royal Mail sack you for? You didn't say. What's the food like in HMP Kirkham?
