Tunbridge Wells Post Office closes due to 'exceptional' temperatures

People in Tunbridge Wells town centre were left scratching their heads yesterday, after the Post Office branch closed shortly after lunch.

Complaints began emerging on social media in the afternoon that the branch at Five Ways had closed, with a sign displayed in the window stating it had been closed due to "health and safety issues".

It was confirmed this morning the branch had been closed due to the high temperatures inside, compounded by a broken air-conditioning system.

A Post Office spokesman told the Courier this morning: "The Post Office is sorry for any inconvenience caused to customers by the closure of Five Ways Post Office on Tuesday afternoon. This was as a result of the unusually hot weather resulting in extremely high temperatures in the branch.

"The branch re-opened for business this morning. An engineer has arrived on site and we are working to repair the air conditioning as quickly as possible.

"Yesterday's heat was exceptional and it appears much cooler today so we do not anticipate having to close again, though the air conditioning should be fixed soon."

They should try pounding the streets in it for hours on end, oh, and don't forget your double lapsing, don't want you finishing early in this heat, much better if you drop dead out there! It will happen and they will be slated in the press, that will upset the share price when they face a corporate manslaughter charge. Stupid advice, walk in the shade, so easy to walk in the shade when there isn't any, take lots of breaks, oh won't be lapsing today guv, got to take extra breaks, that goes down well.
