Post Office named as most complained about Broadband provider

The Post Office has been named as the most complained about provider, a new study has shown.

The research, conducted by Ofcom, showed that Post Office landline and broadband had received a record number of complaints from customers, overtaking TalkTalk and EE.

In the first quarter of 2016, complaints for the Post Office reached 29 out of every 100,000 customers - almost double the average amount for providers.

This makes the Post Office the most complained about landline provider, with EE still taking topping the table for fixed-line broadband complaints with an estimated 34 complaints per 100,000 customers

A spokesperson for the Post Office said that the number of complaints had risen from a sudden increase in customers at the end of 2015.

“We had a promotion towards the end of last year that resulted in a record number of connections, and we were not as prepared as we should have been to deal with the increase in demand.”

“We are very sorry this has led to us not meeting the expectations of some customers, but we have addressed this and expect this to be reflected in a significantly improved position in the next Ofcom report.”

Providers Virgin Media and Sky reported the smallest amount of complaints across the board, with both having below average complaints per 100,000 customers.

Ofcom regularly reports on the number of complaints that providers receive, which it claims allows them to improve their performance.
