Llanymynech's Post Office takes Euro 2016 England v Wales divided loyalties to extreme

A POST Office in Llanymynech is taking split loyalties to the extreme ahead of the crucial England v Wales game in Euro 2016 today.

The branch, which is based in the village's main street, will be a game of two halves as people working straddle the English and Welsh border in more ways than one.

As well as the geographical border between Powys in Wales and Shropshire in England, and the husband and wife team which operate it will also be on opposite sides.

Jen and Karl Bridger the husband and wife team who run Llanymynech Post Office say the village has received a lot of media interest this week.

Jen said: "The border runs right down the middle of the village.

"We even have a golf course where you can tee off in Wales and putt out in England. It’s a real split between our team in terms of the national loyalties.

"Even my husband and I will be supporting different sides. Although it will be business as usual at the branch, there will be some friendly rivalry and we will of course be listening to the match and cheering our individual teams along.”
