Workers made redundant from collapsed parcel delivery company City Link without consultation are entitled to money, an employment tribunal ruled.

Morrish Solicitors LLP said by New Year's Eve 2014 2,500 employees with the Coventry-based firm had been made redundant without any consultation.

The law firm said about 700, including nearly 260 it represented, successfully pursued claims, with people being awarded 90 days' pay.
Administrators EY declined to comment.

Nearly 600 people were based at the firm's national headquarters at Baginton, with the rest employed at more than 50 depots across the UK, Morrish Solicitors LLP said.

Associate Daniel Kindell said the law firm was "delighted to have been able to secure the best possible result in this case" following a tribunal in Leeds.

He said: "The company defended this case throughout and its stance has been vindicated by the penalty imposed.

"We hope the Tribunal's decision gives ex-employees of City Link some sense of justice."
