Grays teenager still critical three weeks after horrific bike smash

A 17-year-old boy from Grays is still in a critical condition in hospital, three weeks after hitting a crash barrier while riding a motorbike with his brother.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash in Wood View Road, Grays, after a blue and yellow Husqvarna motorbike ridden by Jim Benton crashed at 6.10pm on April 12.
The teenager, whose father Jamie works in Brentwood as a postman, suffered a serious head injury and was taken to the Royal London Hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.
The pillion passenger, his 16-year-old brother Joe, suffered a fractured knee which required surgery.
Joe has since been discharged from hospital.
Police are appealing for drivers who were travelling along Wood View Road between 6 and 6.15pm to get in touch.
They are especially keen to speak to drivers who turned left into King Edward Drive during this time.

A team of 30 Brentwood postmen, who work with Jim's father, are walking 20 miles from their HQ to the Royal London Hospital to raise money for two charities following the crash.
They are raising money for the Essex Air Ambulance and the Sick Children's Trust, a charity that is helping Jim's parents.
Jamie is expected to be walking the final part of the journey with his colleagues, who will be leaving the Brentwood sorting office in St Thomas Road at 8am on June 12.
They are scheduled to arrive at the hospital, where they have been given permission to finish on the helipad, at around 3pm.
Brentwood postman Danny Attfield, who is organising the walk, is asking for Gazette readers' support.
He said: "I would ask that everyone gives generously for these amazing causes."
