Hello!
So I start next week. Any tips aside from the obvious (harder than you think, join the union, get out while you can, etc, etc...)
I'm happy that my induction day is at a different DO to the one I'll l be working at, hopefully this'll mean I actually get a better approximation of a "proper" induction.
Any uniform ordering tips? What shoes should I order? Are the new Doc Martin's available?
I have my holidays all booked up for the year, what are my chances of actually getting them?
How long till I can access the benefits?
How long till I can put in for a transfer to a DO that's closer to home?
Thanks in advance!

All most all inductions are away from the parent office.jzhowie wrote:I'm happy that my induction day is at a different DO to the one I'll l be working at, hopefully this'll mean I actually get a better approximation of a "proper" induction.
Doc martins are AFAIK, but I think they won't let you order till you have done 6 weeks. However they should give you a day glow coat or tabbard.jzhowie wrote:Any uniform ordering tips? What shoes should I order? Are the new Doc Martin's available?
Tell your parent office on day 1 - they should jonour them. The quicker you tell them the better.jzhowie wrote:I have my holidays all booked up for the year, what are my chances of actually getting them?
If you have a perm contract then you can access them straight away I think. However, most of them have a penalty on them if you leave before the time limit for each benefit.jzhowie wrote:How long till I can access the benefits?
6 months IIRC.jzhowie wrote:How long till I can put in for a transfer to a DO that's closer to home?
