Letters and parcels stolen from Royal Mail sorting office in Musselburgh

LETTERS and parcels were stolen during a break-in to the Royal Mail sorting office in Musselburgh.

The incident, which happened some time between February 6 and 7, was highlighted to members of Musselburgh and Inveresk Community Council at their meeting last week.

PC Marc Reid of Police Scotland said that a quantity of letters and parcels were stolen and the crime had been passed on to the CID.

A Police Scotland spokesman later said: “Police in East Lothian were called to a postal delivery office around 7.30am on Sunday, February 7, following reports of a break-in.

“The incident happened on High Street, Musselburgh, where thieves forced entry to the rear of the property and various items were taken.

“Enquiries are ongoing and anyone who saw anything suspicious around that time is asked to call Police Scotland on 101.”
