Liverpool man who defrauded delivery firm Yodel out of £300,000 has been jailed for 32 months.
Michael David McDonough, 31, of Pateley Close, Kirkby was sentenced at Liverpool Crown Court after admitting fraud by false representation against his then employer.
McDonough, who was working in the payroll department, stole the cash by duplicating redundancy payments so that the cash was also paid into his eight bank accounts.
He also paid money into bank accounts belonging to his family and friends.
Detective Inspector Phil Mahon, from Liverpool CID, said: “We are pleased that a two year investigation into the lies, deceit and ultimately, the fraud committed by Michael McDonough has resulted in today’s custodial sentence.
“McDonough’s reckless actions have resulted in the loss of more than £300,000 to the company.
“While working in the payroll department at Yodel, McDonough duplicated redundacy payments so that money paid to employees made redundant was also paid into McDonough’s eight bank accounts and those of friends and family, who were all unaware of the criminal source of the cash. He was trusted to make payments to colleagues and he breached that trust for his own criminal gain.
“We hope that in knowing McDonough will today start a custodial sentence, anyone considering committing economic crime will be left in no about how seriously Merseyside Police take it. We will make sure you face justice.
“My thanks go to Yodel who helped the police and Crown Prosecution Service in putting him before the courts so that justice could be done.”

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
