Transfers in Royal Mail

Post by Thistle-Rose »

I've been waiting on a transfer now for 11 months and have only been informed by a letter from the area manager the week after i sent the transfer form away,i have asked my manager about the transfer alot and he can't find anything about it.Seems strange to me that you put in a transfer and dont get any updates about whats happening. Is there anything i can do or anybody i can contact about it?

Transfers

Hi thistle i myself put in a transfer a few years back when i moved out of london to kent and if i remember correctly personel at the mail centre dealt with it.A reason why you may not have heard any thing is does your dom want you to go? are you a driver or ex p.h.g. or do you have a skilled job which is hard to cover.Your sick record is another factor as well if its bad then forget about it , what about the office you want to go to are there vacancies there ?The only other thing is to put in another transfer form. Good luck mate :pray

When i transferred i asked my DOM if i could go,he said yes, went to the office that i wanted to go to to see if there were vacancies and would they have me,they said yes.
Try and do most of it yourself if you can, especially if you know exactly what office you want to go to.
At the mo with the cuts it's a nitemare,we've got one bloke at my place just recently moved who's doing 3hr round trips.
I got him a DO number from someone on here where he wants to go to and no luck, because of the cuts.
Where bouts you wanna go to(roughly)someone on here might know something or be near there.
Good luck.

Transfers

If you're a full timer, then you've probably got no chance. If a full timer leaves your chosen office, they will be replaced by a part timer. Unless you are prepared to go part time, forget it. The job of a postman is being degraded so much, we can all expect to be working alogside foreigners with little english on minimum wage pretty soon.

If you are on a stage warning can RM block your transfer request as this is what a mbr has reported to me today. I really fail to see the logic. in that!

Wouldn't of thought so,but from what i've sort of got to know is a Manager can refuse to take you if you have a very bad sick record.

i waited 12 months for my transfer a few years ago what you have to do is mither them untill you get somewhere
ring the dom at the office you want to go to or turn up every now and then in person and ask if anything is going
it does go on your sickness or your lates the dom at my last office was leaving so he said you might aswell go
and i left on the same day he did best move i ever made i dont miss the 24 mile round trip thats for sure
