More than 51,000 people said their post was lost completely, while another 4,699 said part of their post did not show up.

A total of 22,162 people complained about P739 failure, which for those not fluent in jargon means the really annoying moment when you find a slip saying ‘Your item is waiting at your local delivery office’.

It might be because you didn’t put enough postage on, or because it didn’t fit through the letterbox… Whatever the reason, it’s not going to help much if the depot doesn’t open again until Christmas is over.

Worryingly, 7.537 people said their post was damaged and another 27,386 got in touch with ‘other’ complaints which really could be anything, hopefully things like Santa stealing gifts because his elves were running late.

In total there were 191,447 complaints between October and December last year.
As the infographic by Statista shows, last year there were a LOT of complaints to Royal Mail from people saying their post was lost, damaged or delayed.

But to put it in context, the postal service expects to handle a massive ten million parcels on this year’s peak day, December 16.

A spokeswoman told metro.co.uk:

Royal Mail delivers over 14 billion items a year, so to put last year’s complaint numbers into perspective that means we successfully delivered around 19,000 items for each complaint received.

‘We take any complaint about our service seriously. As such we have a three stage complaints process to support customers and 98% of all complaints are resolved at the first contact with us.

All of the complaints in the October to December 2014 period were resolved and the number was lower than the previous year.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
