Light Duties or Rehabilitation - are they one and the same?

Post by answer=42 »

I injured my ankle recently, don't know how but it suddenly became very painful to walk on. Office was quite good about it when I said I wasn't fit to go out on delivery and I was put in the callers' office. I saw a doctor and was sent for an xray, inconclusive results and I have to go back again. Thing is, I'm staying on 'light duties' until I've seen the doctor again. My manager says I have to have Tuesdays as my day off because that's the rehab rule (I am not allowed to work more than my contact hours either). I had already arranged Friday as my day off next week due to a prior appointment.

The question is: Is Tuesday a mandatory day off for those on light duties? If so where is it laid down?

Total bollocks.

Ask to see the agreement (it doesn't exist) as proof.
The manager is making their own life easier in relation to staffing, or just trying to punish you/"persuade" you back into your normal role.

Rehab/light duties are what is agreed to make your working life easier in order not to make your health issue worse.
It's about appropriate CONTENT, not attendance days or times (unless temporarily working in another unit IF agreed).
How can what days of the week you do or don't work affect this in any way?

You should stay on your normal day off rotation unless you agree to change.

Ring HR for advice. It is possible to be perceived as B&H.
Sometimes, I wish I wasn't a Rep.

If you are on light duties, there is no set rehab day off, most people stick with their set day off, for that week, or if there is change, its usually discussed with the manager, and the decision is mutual.
I would definitely ask to see this agreement.!!!!!!!! i bet they can't find one

OK so it looks like the Tuesdays off thing is a local 'arrangement'
What about contracted hours? Is there any agreement or rule that says contracted hours should not be exceeded. Let's say a part timer on an 18 hour contract was on light duties should there be any reason why he or she should not work a 25 hour week if there was a suitable task to perform indoors (callers office for example at 5 hours a day).

dont think you are allowed to work more than your contracted hours when on light duties. so if you or asking can you do ot think that is a big no as you cannot pick and choose what you do on ot.
