This gives a new meaning to air mail.
A postal worker is no longer delivering mail after tossing a package from just outside her truck at the front door of a customer's house, officials said.
Hassan Hamze of Greensboro was at work when he got an alert that the motion sensor video on his doorbell went off, Hamze told ABC News today.
“My regular postal service worker never pulled into my driveway,” Hamze said. “It made me wonder why she did.”
Hamze watched as the postal worker threw his package, containing a $199 electronics item, from just outside of her truck to his front door, he said.
Hamze contacted the post office and sent them the video that the camera had captured, he said.
“The postmaster called me the same day, 30 minutes after I sent the video and he said 'I’m sorry,'” Hamze said.
In a statement provided to ABC News today, USPS said a thrown package is “unacceptable” and does not reflect their commitment to their customers.
“If we discover an incident of a package being thrown or mishandled, we investigate and take appropriate steps to remedy the situation with the customer and to prevent future incidents by the carrier or clerk involved,” the USPS said in a statement.
The employee is no longer delivering mail and is in the process of being let go, a postal official said.
