Does anyone remember the last time boxing day fell on Saturday 26th, in 2009, if ALL the RDC's closed ?.
We have not had confirmation from management, despite raising the issue several weeks ago, so that implies either a national decision has not been made or is it up to local RDC's to decide.
I am aware being deemed a non-operational day means the vast majority of people will not be working & LTB from 2009 (posted by TBT) explains if you are rostered on Saturday, which I assume would apply again this year.

Christmas Arrangements 2009

Please find attached to this LTB the Christmas Arrangements Agreement for 2009.

The Agreement is based on operational arrangements from last year, including the following:

· Payment of Scheduled Attendance rate for Pre Scheduled Overtime

· Extended Enquiry Office Opening Times

· Packet Re-Delivery Service

· Sunday Collections

· Ability to work day off for Day in Lieu or Overtime payment

· Pre-scheduling of hours against forecast workload

Saturday 26th December 2009 will be a non-service day in Royal Mail. This means that anyone due to attend work on that day will not be required to work and, more importantly, there will be No Clawback of hours for those members concerned, in line with previous agreements. The Bank Holiday normally due on the 26th will now be re-scheduled to Monday 28th December 2009.

This means that the vast majority of our members will enjoy a four day break with their families over the Christmas Period; some even longer depending on their individual duty arrangements.

Please note that separate arrangements have been put in place in Scotland for Saturday 2nd January/Monday 4th January 2010 between the CWU Scotland/Northern Ireland Divisional Reps and Royal Mail Regional Managers.

Re: CHRISTMAS & NEW YEAR ARRANGEMENTS 2015/16

"With regard to the 26th December, non Service/USO day Para 3.2 confirms the joint commitment that for Inland operations where staff are required to attend it is on a voluntary basis with any shortfall made up by use of other resourcing options. It should be noted however that the expectation is that the requirement to attend will be very low and staff who do attend will be paid at SA rate for all hours worked on the 26th December."

At our RDC staff who would normally work on a Saturday (mainly Tues to Sat shifts) have been detailed to attend (IN ATTENDANCE) Saturday 26 December as normal, in agreement with the cwu area distribution rep. Apparently they (ARE UNLIKELY) to resource enough agency staff to cover. So much for "...It is on a voluntary basis".



The actual notice states "Christmas working arrangements" . "Following national agreement duty attendance schedule summarised below" Attendance for duty & SA .... Tues to Sat . IN ATTENDANCE on 26 December.

Still confused at the apparent contradiction of VOLUNTARY & IN ATTENDANCE.

Are all RDC's open on Saturday 26th December ?
