In our D/O there has been quite a few left over the past 6 months or so, be it sacked, fed up, ill health or redundancy, I'd estimate about 15.
We've had several come from other offices to fill in at times but things are starting to get busier now and we have a large influx of agency temps come in too.
What is the procedure for vetting staff now?
When i started I had to jump through hoops to get in, dexterity & speed tests, police checks and sign the official secrets act, then 2 weeks ghosting an experienced postman.
Now people are thrown into sorting & delivery with absolutely no basic training, and I mean none, start 1st day at 7am and just get pointed to a frame and told that's what needs delivering.

Did your office not have an issue with agency staff coming in on delivery?

It sets a bad precedent, where agency staff can come and go, take away overtime, and generally erode the terms and conditions for permanent staff.

Don't think anyone gives it a seconds thought, dare say all our doms are happier as they've been out til all hours,
still plenty of overtime for those who want it,internal or external, but also been told that nobody whose sub 39 hours will definitely not get made up to full time in the foreseeable regardless of the hours overtime they've been putting in during the past 7/8 months
rep just says "some ones got to deliver it"
