I want to work for the Royal Mail. I am 23 and have had a difficult time with my mental health. I have Asperger's, social phobia, depressive symptoms and psychotic symptoms.
I started a maths degree when I was 18 but had to drop out. I have been volunteering for a year in customer service for 40 hours a week and it isn't suited to me with my problems.
I can't get a driving licence with my mental health problems.
I have never had a paid job other than 4 days of leaflet distribution and a few months of customer service at a disability charity where I was the charity case.
How do I get into the Royal Mail? I live in Perth, Scotland.

Re: I want to work for the Royal Mail as a postman but...
I think it's unlikely that Royal Mail would employ somebody without a driving licence nowadays as that is one of the basic requirements of the job description which I have seen mentioned in every single one of their job adverts.
Also worth mentioning is that that your social phobia may make the job intolerable for you, depending on the severity of it. A certain level of interaction is necessary both in the delivery office and when out on the rounds.
If you are determined to aim for a job as a postman, I would recommend that you focus on doing more delivery work, such as the leaflets, newspapers etc, which will give you a feel as to whether that aspect of the job would be tolerable for you. Also research whether there is any possibility of getting your driving licence because I believe that to be necessary now, even if you never actually drive for the company!
Don't give up hope though, when the correct job opportunity for you comes up, you are likely to find it fits you like a glove, even if it is not with RM.
