Royal-Mail-takes-St-Ives-PM-supplier-cu ... ract-value

This is an example of the huge amount of money that is spent behind the scenes to the average postie. I just wanted to bring people's attention to the savings potential that isn't just about cuttign jobs and services. RM Group will save millions over the coming years as they start to procure supplies properly, rather than inefficiently as before. For example there is now a procurement director on the board of the company. Considering the company spends near £1bn a year on supplies you'd think this would already be the case

my god !, in one area RM appear to be trying to run a business !, still lack vision & imagination, you won't get much creative input with that 70's command & control style, but there isn't much of that @ 150 The Broadway either >

Much more sensible than trying to get more work from posties who are already working to their limits. RM can get somewhere with that approach. But they still need some creative input to grow the business. Expansion is the key to real success.

It has always been a bone of contention on the method of supplying RM.

Unless things have changed dramatically there is a list of "preferred" suppliers for whatever is needed.

The prices they charge are extortionate. Unlike you and I who would get individual quotes the preferred supplier is the ONLY supplier.
