Being sick how can i get the 28th December off work?.My union rep said i have too work it but i have a family wedding at 2pm.My walk is heavy so i get in late,what can i do now?.

Just throwing this in but whether or not you have to work on a certain date has AFAIK nothing at all to do with the union. If your boss is willing to give you the day off without if affecting anyone else, then I as a loyal union member would tell the union to wind its neck in.

i cant see how you cant get the day off if you want it off mate. in our office iv always arranged it that the annual leave days are opened again after christmas day. if its different at your office and push comes to shove just work to your time or get a few mates to cover the shift after you box it in.

Thats what I thought,but my walk is a distance from my office.Nobody likes too cover it because i get seven bags and wait for a lift.The rep has stuffed it up for me

Cant see what it has to do with the union to be honest, talk to your dom and explain maybe you can work your day off some time before the wedding and have that day off instead or if you know your cover postie have a word to see if you can swap days off or swap with someone else in the office.

you have plenty of time to sort this out without even troubling the office just make sure the manager is kept informed.

Ask for a days A/L if spread is full will someone swap,ask a colleague whose rest day it is if they would do your duty for you and you do his on your day off or last of all ask your dom for special leave,he should give it but it will be unpaid.Good luck.
