Angard Vacs - Casual Mail Sorters

Post by Budfrog »

I have just seen that Angard are now recruiting for casual mail sorters at a number of locations throughout the country:

https://rmg.i-grasp.com/fe/angard.asp?s ... pjwvnkujou" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

At my nearest Mail Centre (Dorset) they are offering the wage range of £6.50 to £6.50 per hour. From what I have seen some of the mail centres where these Vacs are being recruited (eg Swindon) for have also been looking for FT staff to apply for VR. Technically when RM gets rid of a person on VR they should be getting rid of that post by law (or by bumping another job holder whose job has been removed onto that post). If the Angard recruits are being brought in to cover the workload previously covered by FT staff who have left this must be against the terms upon which VR has been granted. The fact that an hourly rate of only £6.50 is being offered means that these can only be temporary positions which really makes RM no better than Whistl when it comes to looking after new starters.

Angard Staffing are recruiting Mail Sorters

Dorset Mail Centre

Angard Staffing Solutions provide flexible workers for Royal Mail, one of the UK’s most trusted and recognised companies. Angard now has a number of great opportunities for customer focused employees working in our customer’s Mail Centres. You will work in Royal Mail’s plant as part of a team ensuring we continue to deliver the high standards of service our customers expect.

Do you
• want a part time job with hours to suit you?
• enjoy working as part of a team to deliver customer satisfaction?
• want to be proud to work for one of the UK’s most well-known and trusted companies?

If you answered yes to these questions, then Royal Mail may have just the opportunity for you.

Our Client
Royal Mail is one of the largest UK companies and every working day, they collect process and deliver around 71 million items to over 28 million addresses.

Royal Mail deliver to their customers 6 days a week, but now instead of seeing the postwoman or postman on a bike or carrying heavy bags, you will see them out in shared vans, working as a team to deliver the various parcels and letters to our customers.

Your Role
In the mail centre you will cover various indoor roles in a warehouse environment and could be unloading mail from vans, moving it around in trolleys, sorting parcels and letters manually or operating machinery. It is a fast paced environment and you’ll be working to efficient methods to meet business performance targets. A mail centre can process over a million items in a shift and you’ll be a valuable part of making that happen.

Working for Angard in a Royal Mail Centre, you will need to be flexible and adaptable, changing from one role to another to move the work quickly along the processing chain.

Hours of work:
Flexible, often on shift work 14:00 to 22:00, 18:00 to 22:00, 22:00 to 06.00, Monday to Sunday.

This is pretty standard. Angard are always advertising for new casuals but at a lot of MCs they just go in to a pool of existing Angards, there probably isn't any more work, just more to call from. With Angard Its always been minimum wage for 12 weeks then RM rates

The way things are going at Dorset there wont be much work for Angard casuals as they advertising for "fixed hour jobs " but not through the usual channels. They should have notified AWR casuals (by law) of the duties if there are any (assuming Regualrs don't want to do them) but they have cut out the possibility of permanising casuals by advertising these jobs (below) outside, which are not for RM rates, to start with at least.
