CHESHIRE Police is investigating after two Royal Mail postmen were taken to hospital after a collision with a DPD parcel van in Appleton.

The collision involved a DPD van, Royal Mail van, and two Royal Mail employees who were out on delivery.

Both men were taken to hospital for treatment, with one airlifted to Wythenshawe Hospital due to serious leg injuries.

The incident happened at 10.45am on Saturday on Chessington Close.

A Cheshire Police spokesman said: "Emergency services went to an RTC on Chessington Close.

"A 20-year-old man was injured after a van collided with him in the close.

"The man suffered serious leg injuries and was taken by air ambulance to Wythenshawe Hospital.

"The investigation is ongoing.

"Anyone with information can call Cheshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 443 of December 13."

A DPD spokesman said: “We can confirm that a DPD vehicle was involved in an unfortunate accident in Warrington on Saturday.

"Our team will continue to provide every assistance with the investigation and we wish the gentleman involved a very speedy recovery.”

A Royal Mail spokesman said: "We can confirm that a road traffic accident took place last Saturday involving two postmen out on delivery, a Royal Mail van and another vehicle.

"Both postmen were taken to hospital and treated for their injuries.

"They are now recovering at home."
