Royal Mail Publishes UK's Black Friday and Cyber Monday Online Shopping Hotspots

The findings are based on analysis of parcel deliveries made by Royal Mail through its extensive network of around 1,400 delivery offices.

The top ten UK online shopping hot spots are: 1. Brighton

4. Norwich

Royal Mail has opened a dedicated network of ten temporary parcel sort centres for the Christmas period and employed an additional 19,000 temporary staff as part of its festive operation Royal Mail has revealed the top ten towns and cities shopping online for their Christmas presents on Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Friday 28th November – Black Friday- and Monday 1st December - Cyber Monday - were the single busiest days of the year so far for online shopping throughout the UK.

The findings are based on analysis of deliveries made by Royal Mail through its extensive network of around 1,400 delivery offices.

The top ten UK online shopping hot spots are:

1. Brighton

2. Basingstoke

3. Lincoln

4. Norwich

5. Guildford

6. Reading

7. Colchester

8. Crawley

9. Tunbridge Wells

10. Ashford (Kent)

The study comes after Amazon's move to offer its online customers access to Royal Mail's Local Collect 'click and collect' network - the largest in the UK.

Local Collect, a partnership between Royal Mail and Post Office, gives online shoppers access to Post Office branches, the largest retail network in the UK. Post Office branches are ideal locations, providing convenient, secure parcel collection facilities across the UK.

Local Collect is one of a range of initiatives by Royal Mail to improve flexibility and provide more options for people to receive items they have ordered online.

Royal Mail has opened a dedicated network of ten temporary parcel sort centres and employed an additional 19,000 temporary staff as part of its festive operation. The parcel sort centres have been set up to sort a significant proportion of the parcels Royal Mail handles before they are distributed around the UK and delivered to the door by Royal Mail's postmen and women.
