Deepest condolences to the family of friends and colleagues of David Haines, according to the Independent he worked for Royal Mail early in his working life.

I would politely ask members to show as much respect as possible if they comment on this thread, people who knew David may visit and we don't want to add to their distress, in consequence this thread will be heavily moderated and the threshold for deleting posts will be very low indeed.

All the more tragic in that David was there as an aid worker with good intent rather that a businessman for profit or soldier 'just following orders'.
The biggest tragedy though is that we wouldn't have any of this if Blair and Bush hadn't invaded Iraq and Afghanistan.

It's a deeply sad and distressing event. David Haines sounds like a really good and decent man who devoted his life to helping others.
May he Rest in Peace. My condolences to his family, my thoughts and prayers are with them at this difficult time.
