Moving onto Artics from Delivery Office (KT - Surrey/London)
Hi there,
I have recently acquired my HGV license and wanted to approach Croydon Mail Centre to see if they have any vacancies and would be interested in a transfer from my delivery office. The problem is i can't find a number for them anywhere as i can only get Delivery office numbers off of DOBI.
I would also be interested in any other locations in or around SW,W and Central London if any one can let me know of any VOC's Mail Centres or DC's that use Hgvs (class 1 and 2 preferred)
Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Croydon Mail Centre Phone Number
What LGV licence do you have? and Croydon are having a VR at the moment so you wont be able to get in.

Re: Croydon Mail Centre Phone Number
PRDC is the place to get hold of as they are the main hub of London

Re: Croydon Mail Centre Phone Number
Thanks for the replies guys. I've loaded up my license and have taken additional artic specific training so can drive anything in the Royal Mail fleet. Do you know of a number for PRDC? I know where it is as i was doing my training in Park Royal, however i didn't know if PRDC operates on flexible shift patterns (As Gatwick VOC does). I have a daughter to look after and the JMC drivers i have spoken to said that mail centres usually work a morning, day and night shift rota so assuming all mail centres operate the same a fixed rota would be preferred.
Do you know if there is much difference in the pay at the various sites as i know from the delivery office site the basic increases the closer you get to London within the M25? One of our relief managers suggested Greenford MC as they also have an artic based on site but i'm not aware if they have anything in between an artic and a 600 MGV.
Thanks
Chris

Re: Croydon Mail Centre Phone Number
The Artics at Greenford are run separately from the 600s whilst they are on the same site they have different management and the Artic VOC is a hub of PRDC as is Hatfield it's to do with the O Licence and how many vehicles you can have on a site. HWDC have a similar situation re Woking VOC as they can't put any more vehicles into HWDC site so they have a satellite as does PRDC but bear in mind
you will become monthly paid, no paid meal reliefs, if you are scheduled to work bank holidays as duty u don't get any extra pay rate. On the + side you get more money and you may get a preference what shift you do.
Theres a Network review due in September so be prepared to wait until they've sorted that out before you get a changeover date. Whilst they carry vacancies the management like to have these vacancies to give when they make their savings but I can't see you getting a duty once they've sorted out Network 14

Moving onto Artics from Delivery Office (KT - Surrey/London)
Thanks for that. I was avoiding Woking VOC as i have heard from several sources that it is relocating and the Delivery office is having the site. It is my 2nd closest site after Croydon but i'm guessing the pay would be similar to that of Gatwick VOC as it is outside of the M25. Are there any sites you know of that have fixed duties/rotas or are most logistics sites on shift patterns? I didn't realise HWDC was an option as that isn't too far from me either, are there any parking issues with it being so close to the airport? Is it best to contact PRDC or HWDC and give them my preferences and wait patiently for them to contact me?rainbowwarrior72 wrote:The Artics at Greenford are run separately from the 600s whilst they are on the same site they have different management and the Artic VOC is a hub of PRDC as is Hatfield it's to do with the O Licence and how many vehicles you can have on a site. I've changed topic name as you have made me aware of several other options other than Croydon MC so thanks for that too!
Thanks again
Chris

HWDC is just outside of Slough so no London waiting. Maybe ask your lino or if you'd rather speak to your union rep to ask them for you to get some contact details off the intranet and take it from there.

I think its outer London waiting same as normal Outer London ie Kingston, Harrow etc etc. Oh yes spoke to a PRDC driver and he seemed to think there was no Network 14 or resign at his place

Re: Moving onto Artics from Delivery Office (KT - Surrey/Lon
Thanks for that. I had my Delivery Office Manager tell me about this and then two days later it appeared on my payslip in the messages box. I applied way back in September but the application is stuck on 'submitted'. I asked an implementation manager i came into contact with recently and he said that Network 14 had overrun and that he doubts anything will happen regarding transfers until after Christmas. Has anyone else heard anything?TrueBlueTerrier wrote:http://www.royalmailchat.co.uk/communit ... 15&t=65388 Ltb Royal Mail Logistics –Professional Driver Opportunities (Class C+E Licence)
