Post Office Launching Mobile Virtual Network Operator with Transatel

Post Office has announced that it is partnering with Transatel in the UK to deliver mobile services later this year. The newly formed mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) will take advantage of Transatel’s mobile virtual network aggregator (MVNA) technical platform and partnership with EE to give its customers access to the UK’s biggest network.

This deal makes Post Office, Transatel’s twenty-seventh MVNO partner in the UK, joining companies including Phones4U, which launched MVNO LIFE Mobile on the MVNE platform, PopMobile and Airwave, which both launched postpaid MVNOs and The Co-operative, which launched its first prepaid SIM card, The Co-operative Mobile in April.

Bertrand Salomon, Transatel deputy CEO said “The Post Office is the number one mails retailer in the UK and their customers put a huge amount of trust in them for their other services, so I am really honoured that they have trusted Transatel and our award-winning MVNA platform to launch their mobile service in the UK. For mobile businesses, this could mean a new segment of customers, previously postal service users only, moving to mobile. This is likely to be an older segment to the majority of mobile users in the UK.
