Ned Corbett-Winder, 29, turned to the team of birds to send post for his mail order gift service after prices went up on Monday.
He ties his post in a secure bag around the birds' necks who travel from London to Oxford where customers collect their package.
Mr Corbett-Winder, whose company NotAnotherBill.com relies on Royal Mail deliveries, said he was taking a stand for small businesses.
He said: "Businesses like mine rely on Royal Mail and we're at the mercy of these price hikes.
"The latest price increase will cost my business around £2,500 over the course of a year which for a small business is a huge amount of money.
"Government is supposed to be supporting small businesses but this move flies in the face of that support and I fear that with the privatisation of the Royal Mail price increases like this are going to become a regular occurrence."
Mr Corbett-Winder's business sells jewellery, clothing accessories and stationery amongst other things.
The pigeons are trained to fly along a set route from Acton to a coop in Oxford 59 miles out.
Food is placed at both locations so they can fly back and forth and the journey takes around an hour compared to the day it takes with Royal Mail.
Mr Corbett-Winder said: "People always joke that if their parcel is late it would have been quicker sending it by carrier pigeon. Well I'm testing the theory out."

On Monday Royal Mail increased first class stamp prices by 2p to 62p and second class stamp cost by 3p to 53p.
It came after the former state-owned Royal Mail was sold by the Government for £2billion.
Pigeons have been used throughout history to transport messages - in a system known as Pigeon Post.
In 1860, Paul Reuter used a fleet of birds to deliver news and stock prices between Brussels and Aachen, the terminals of early telegraph lines.
He went onto set up the global news agency Reuters.
The outcome of the Battle of Waterloo was also first delivered by a pigeon to England.

Yet more flights of fantasy maybe he should put in for a management job as they always plan on a wing and a prayer.
