STARS of the Emmerdale cast will take on York postal staff next month to raise cash for a North Yorkshire children’s hospice.

Funds raised from the football match between a team made up of cast and crew from the Yorkshire soap and a team from the York branch of Royal Mail will go to Martin House Hospice at Boston Spa, which cares for youngsters with life-limiting illnesses and supports their families.

The teams are backing the charity’s Good Night’s Sleep Appeal. The Emmerdale side has raised thousands of pounds for good causes over the years, while Martin House is the Royal Mail’s chosen charity this year.

The game will be at York Railway Institute on Sunday, March 2, with gates opening at 1pm. Admission will be £3 for adults and free for children.

A Royal Mail spokesman said: “This is such a wonderful cause and we want to show our massive support for Martin House. We hope the people of Yorkshire will join us.”
