Sunday/Bank Holiday Rate (AWR)

Many of us were told by the person who booked our shifts over the last few weeks that the Sunday, 06:00 - 14:00 shift would be paid at about £15 PH (around time + 1/3)

We ended up being paid £12.56 PH for the Sunday. When I enquired about this I got the following response:

"You have been paid at £12.56 per hour for Sunday
as you worked more than 35.40 hours that week. Please see table below of
how we calculate your pay rate when you work more than 35.40 hours per
week:

Logistics OPG Overtime Rates £ph
after 35 hours and 40 mins net
per week

Monday - Saturday - first 10 £
hours 10.79

Monday - Saturday - above 10 £
hours 10.06

Sunday £
12.56 "


I have now asked what the Sunday rate would be if I HADN'T worked more than 35 hours, Surely it should not be LESS?

If you do less than 35.67 hours which includes a Sunday shift then its full rate anything more and the rate drops.
The reason I believe is because the regular workforce also get reduced rates for overtime

The way I understood it is that the posties only get a reduced over time rate, AFTER a certain amount of overtime hours. I'll get more info when working tomorrow.

If this is the case then a lot of people either wouldn't have taken the Sunday shift, or would have exchanged another day for it.

Ha, get this. I have just checked tomorrows payslip. I worked 6 days including a Sunday and a bank holiday:

29.00 Hours @ £10.90
14.50 Hours @ £14.05

Something is clearly gone wrong, right?

Nope sounds about right they average it out rather than break it down properly the girls in wages are usually quite good they might break it down for you if they have the imformation there.

Yes we do.
Our union negotiated that for us.
Isn't it marvelous.
Allegedly when/If our latest agreement is ratified that little gem will go.

How has it averaged out if on the previous weeks payslip I was payed £10.56 PH for the Sunday , and Angard emailed me saying that I will only get £10.56 for any Sunday/bank holiday in any 35+ hour worked week?

Sunday rate for us at our MC is around £15/£16 unless during the week you get above 35.67 hours then Sunday pay is reduced to £12 and a bit. Note: all the Sunday hours are reduced as soon as you get above 35.67 hours not just the excess.

Not sure what happens to the Sunday hours when you get above 45.67 hours work.

No idea about Bank Holiday pay but indication from RM permanent was they get paid double time plus a day off in lieu. How this translates for us is open to massive guesses and speculation.

bank holidays we get £15.30 (the change might be wrong but its definitely a little over £15) :)
