'Our priority is posties' safety

ROYAL Mail has apologised for suspending deliveries to families due to an 'uneven' pavement.

Several households in Maryfield Walk, Penkhull, will have to collect their letters from a delivery office three miles away in Leek Road, Stoke, from November 18.

Royal Mail spokesman Val Bodden said: "We are taking the decision to suspend deliveries to a small number of addresses after a number of incidents involving colleagues falling and slipping on the routes.

"Royal Mail operational managers, local council representatives and residents met on Wednesday at the site to discuss the issues and to consider alternative measures that could be put in place, until repairs are completed.

"Our priority is the safety of our people and we apologise to customers for the temporary suspension of mail deliveries."

Slightly bizarre.
If the story is factually correct, then RM is waiting a week and a half to suspend deliveries.
Maybe they have given the council (or whoever) until then to make the appropriate repairs 'or else'.
But if so, what happens if the postie(s) in question sustains an injury between now and then?
Sometimes, I wish I wasn't a Rep.
