Royal Mail counts the cost of dog attacks on postmen:Kent

A shocking 240 working days have been lost by the county’s postal staff in the last year because of attacks by animals.

Gravesend postwoman Michelle Dixon spent four weeks of work after being bitten by a rottweiler in February while, on her round.

She said: “When I normally deliver to this house I can hear the dog barking but it is shut inside.

“On this particular day, as I went through the gate the dog appeared and sank his teeth into my arm.â€
