Hopefully a Newbie

Post by cheapside1 »

Hi all,

I've been invited to an assessment day this week for a delivery driver role for Parcel force. One of the tasks is a route planning assessment and i'm a bit worried.. Is there anyone out there who can give me any advice on how to prep for this.

Thanks

Im with parcelforce a few years now.

My interview day was split into 2 part. 1st was an aptitude test. We were given a map with grid references and a sheet with postcodes that referred to the grid references on the map. We were then handed a bunch of envelopes with address's and postcodes on them. The idea was to plot out the most efficient route taking into consideration school/business opening hours and if there where parcels that had to be delivered before a certain time. There was a set time to complete this, I cant remember how long. Also consider that some parcels are timed delivers, meaning they have to be delivered before 10am/12am. Collections also have time windows that you have to consider.

2nd part of the day was the interview. They asked questions like how you would load your van, what equipment would you take with you. What vehicle checks would you perform and so on. Pretty generic questions tbh. If you need any more help or have more questions just ask.
