Hi All
Hoping someone can help with an issue that I find myself in. There is currently ad-hoc overtime that is available in our depot, this is currently being performed by just one member of staff. A few months back I put in a request to receive a share of the available overtime in our depot. It was decided by management that the only 'fair' way to do this would be to rotate it between myself and the other member of staff. I should point out that everyone else in the depot receives scheduled overtime on a daily basis. The rotate has since been introduced on a weekly basis.
It has now come to light that the union rep in my area has went to disagreement on this issue, acting on the other members behalf. I am also part of the Union, not once has anyone come to ask my opinion on the whole situation.
Any idea's on how I should proceed with this? I am surprised by my local reps stance on this as I thought a rep should be subjective on all issues.

Absolutely! Get your branch involved and write to CWU HQ this guy is totally out of order and tell him what you are doing. As a matter of interest why isn't the scheduled overtime shared out - we have lists, you add your name and are then scheduled in turn. on this occasion management are right that is the fair thing to do.keeno wrote:Hi All

Re: Fair distribution of overtime
Agreed, but i would first approach your local rep and explain the situation. If you don't get any joy, then i would do as dvbuk55 suggests and send it upstairs.

"everyone else in the depot receives scheduled overtime on a daily basis" - scheduled overtime or Scheduled Attendance ?keeno wrote:Hi All

Re: Fair distribution of overtime
Sorry for ethe late reply, been out of action for a while.
It is scheduled attendance, just me not using the correct wording. Everything is still up in the air, the overtime is currently being rotated but I know that there are talks going on behind the scenes with a view to removing me and having the other member receive all the overtime.

Re: Fair distribution of overtime
This is a separate issue and as far as I am aware the union is also fighting to keep the scheduled attendance from being rotated. The only way I see a new employee ever getting overtime in our depot is if someone leaves.dvbuk55 wrote:Absolutely! Re: Fair distribution of overtime
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
I have been absent for a few months recovering from a hip replacement. Before I went for the surgery this had all been sorted (or so I though), the rotate was put in place and all was good. Having returned to work yesterday I have been told that I have been removed from the rotation and that once again the overtime will go to a single member of staff. I can only assume that a lot has gone on behind my back while I was recovering. I don't blame my depot Union Rep, he is trying to represent both our interests, however surely this Can't be right?
I have tried to resolve this at local level but have hit a brick wall.
