Whats at stake is ...

Ok so its like this ...RM steered a path for industrial action for early summer ,and as we all watched they believed that an all out strike would eventually fall to a drift back to work on a RM 'sit it out attitude' ..problem was ..rolling strikes crippled the business with postmen taking the relatively small hit in wages...now we see the no climb down ,save my reputation being played out by RM ...but this time we are into autumn pressure ...10 weeks from xmas and after the massive backlog of the 4 day strike ,rolling strikes are here to bring them back to the table ....RM are desperately putting every conceivable thing up for change ramming through with Executive action ...including the very thing they need to get rid of ...pensions ,as the RM pension is one of the best in the country ,only no bugger will buy RM with those pension rights ,when its privatised .....get rid of 2500 PO also a drain on RM because the Government took away all there contracts ...TV license ,car tax ,pensions ,giro ,list goes on and on ...stuff the communities the PO's serve .' we are being groomed for privatisation ...and is being sold as modernisation ....but they have a problem ...98% of mail is delivered by RM ....yes we lose contracts of some 40% thats the spin ...only those contracts are given straight back for us to deliver ...UK mail .business post are losing business because of the strike ...and soon postcom wont be able to challenge compensation claimed by these companies....they are at the mo ...but not for long ....I'm more worried about a bodged deal....giving RM time to introduce sequencing ,effectively making a postman's job ...delivery only or just about ...as at the moment they have moved 2 years to early ...as they need sorters and preppers , but even that has shown signs of dwindling ....whatever RM say at the moment we hold the cards and to me ruining AC & AL reputation as no nonsense numpties is key ...they cant afford a xmas strike RM reputation and theres are at stake ....we know what we want ,stick to your guns and i'm 100% sure we will get what we want ....the future is a different matter .....what a result in the rugby ...Aussies don't they make you smile .

The ball is firmly in RM's court. The CWU have stated that rolling strikes will take place until RM come to agreement. the CWU have all the aces at the moment.

Let`s say this takes a long time to play out. Xmas is a possibility, what if it goes towards March next year and Leightons contract up for renewal. Could they really renew his contract if RM was in such a mess?

I think if he wants a new contract he will get one. He answers to his boss, the Government, and in my opinion is following their instructions. But as he is on the board of directors of TNT, listed as a Non-Executive director which means he officially has no influence, I would suggest he has another job to go to. Either way it is still a conflict of interests, he can change RM to suit TNT. I heard it is the Downstream access users that want later deliveries because they are struggling to get the mail to us in time to deliver.
