The Post Office is offering a £5,000 reward after a series of cash box robberies at four different branches in Wolverhampton and Walsall .

Between Thursday, May 9-Thursday, July 4, cash boxes were grabbed from security guards at four different post offices.

The first happened at around 3.40pm outside the branch in Cresswell Crescent. A man threatened a cash in transit delivery driver and demanded he hand over the cash box. The box was handed over and the man ran off with it.

Then at around 10.10am on Monday, May 20, a man ran up to a security guard as he was delivering a cash box to the Showell Circus Post Office.

The man then grabbed the box and ran off towards Annan Road and got into a silver vehicle which sped off.

On Tuesday, June 18, a third cash box grab happened at the Wood End Post Office in Wednesfield, at around 11.40am. This time a man walked up to the delivery driver, ripped the cash box from his grasp and ran off.

The most recent robbery happened at around 12.40pm on Thursday, July 4, when a man approached a cash in transit delivery driver outside the Post Office in Willenhall Road. He demanded the cash box before grabbing it and running off.

Detective Sergeant Paul Reeves, from the Serious Acquisitive Crime Team , said: "Although there are similarities between each offence we are keeping an open mind as to whether or not they are all linked.

"Although none of the security guards were injured, several of them were threatened with violence and feared for their safety when they were approached.

"All of the offences happened during the day and we are keen to hear from any witnesses or anyone with information about them.

"The cash boxes are fitted with coloured dye which covers the notes if the box is not opened with the key - so we are keen to hear from anyone who has received any notes covered with dye in the last three months.

"The Post Office is supporting our investigation and are offering the £5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the people responsible."

Anyone with any information should call police on 101 or contact the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
