What came first (in the post), the chicken or the Nando’s voucher?
That was the unlikely question being asked following a chain of events that began with a Nando’s fan biting into a piece of plastic and ending with Royal Mail drawing him a picture of a chicken by way of an apology.
The story begins on June 21 when film maker Jeremy Cole, 27, complained on Twitter that he had choked on a bit of plastic in his Nando’s wrap.
After he contacted the restaurant chain to say he was ‘Peri-Peri disappointed’, Nando’s sent him an old-fashioned letter apologising, but a supposedly attached voucher was missing.
‘All this time I just wanted some plastic free chicken and a legitimate postal service,’ the father-of-one wrote, adding the Royal Mail to his hit-list.
‘Does anyone have the Queen’s email address? I want my Nando’s voucher.’
After Nando’s, having resent a voucher, cheekily tweeted Royal Mail to say it should draw a picture of a chicken by way of recompense, the postal service surprisingly obliged.
Mr Cole said he had had his ‘faith restored’ in Nando’s as a result of the episode, which is unlikely to become a children’s fable anytime soon.
Royal Mail’s social team also clearly has a talented artist on its books, judging by the other pictures they have posted on Twitter.
But Mr Cole was unimpressed by their efforts, saying: ’I'm still not pleased that Royal Mail think it’s OK to go through my post at their selection, but at least Nando’s have resolved it.’
