The annual UNI Global communicators and campaigns conference kicks off today (Tuesday) in Malta. The full three-day programme brings together trade union communicators and campaigns officials from UNI's international affiliates to focus on new visions for union communications with the aim of achieving quality media storytelling.
"Online and digital communication tools continue to change at a rapid pace and are central to unions not only as a straight forward communications tool but also to engage the membership and organise on a level offline campaigning just cannot do as well on its own anymore," said CWU head of communications, Kevin Slocombe.
"This conference brings together both of these strands to explore how best to combine online and offline campaigning to maximise engagement and looks at how best to communicate these messages across multiple platforms," said Kevin.
As a UNI Global affiliate CWU is represented at the forum by communications and campaigns manager, John Colbert.
UNI Global is the universal union for skills and services and aims to foster international solidarity by providing a voice and platform at an international level for all its members. The CWU is one of 900 trade unions affiliated to UNI Global Union representing 20 million workers in 140 countries worldwide.
