Under the leadership of the Fédération Générale des PTT, one of UNI affiliates in Tunisia, the Tunisian postal workers are on strike from 29 to 30 May 2013.
The main demands of the union are as follows:
- The employer's refusal to recognize union right of workers
- The existence of a large number of precarious jobs
- Lack of appropriate measures to regulate leave of workers
- The employer's refusal to implement the previous agreements signed with the union
In terms of mobilization, the strike was fully followed by postal workers. However, the union is available for bargaining for a win-win solution to all social partners, said Mr Mongi Ben Barek, the General Secretary of Fédération Générale des PTT
To support the action of the Fédération Générale des PTT, Mr Stephen DeMatteo, HOD of UNI Post and Logistics has sent a solidarity message to all postal workers in Tunisia.
