Hundreds of letters have been locked inside 11 post boxes in Kensington for more than two weeks, because a postman has lost his bunch of keys.

EDIT:Link not working for some reason when I tried to Uncle Bob the story.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Kensington post boxes sealed after postman loses keys

About a dozen post boxes in Kensington, west London, have had to be sealed up after a postman lost a set of keys.

A Royal Mail spokeswoman said the keys for post boxes in the Gloucester Road area went missing a week and a half ago.

The boxes were broken open for any mail to be retrieved, then metal plates were placed in the apertures, she said.

Daniel Moylan, former deputy leader of the council, said councillors wanted the issue sorted as soon as possible.

Royal Mail spokeswoman Sally Hopkins said: "We are working to change the locks and reopen these boxes as quickly as possible.

"The boxes were cleared before they were sealed so no mail was left inside."

She said customers could use other post boxes or post office branches in the meantime.

'Pleased as punch'

Meanwhile a post box in St Peter's Road is proving to be a port in a storm.

Last Autumn, a George V pillar box was removed from the road for health and safety reasons.

Michael Bach, chairman of the Victoria Road Residents' Association campaigned to have it reinstated.

Just before Christmas, the Royal Mail replaced it with an Elizabeth II box which means it is unaffected while the keys have been lost for the older models, said Mr Bach.

He added: "Everyone was pleased as punch to have the post box back."

When I lost a set of Pillar Box keys they got a new set done within a day or 2. I am very surprised why it is taking so long.

managers nowdays cannot make a decision they have to e-mail everyone first and wait for a decision from higher up.
was there not a spare key for every pillar box back at the distribution office involved for the area.as for the council getting involved why dont they use there usal services to send mail or was it just another tory councillor jumping on the bandwaggon to slag us of.

On the rare occasions this happens, all boxes are emptied and sealed until new locks can be fitted for security reasons. Quite why they had to break into them I don't know. My office has 3 or 4 keys for every box. I used to work with a lad who lost 2 full sets to his collection route within about 10 days.

Wonder what will happen to the mush who lost the keys? Conduct coded, sacked or is it just us at Pompey who are singled out for "special" treatment?
How much worse can it get? A LOT F****** WORSE !!!
