A ROYAL Mail lorry blocked Embankment Road in Plymouth when it got stuck under a bridge.
The driver, from Bristol, attempted to take his 16ft 2in lorry under the bridge, which has a 16ft clearance.
Police said the incident was reported at 1.35pm yesterday.
The road was closed for a time as the lorry was escorted away.
"There was no great damage to the vehicle or the bridge and no injuries," a police spokesman said.
Traffic was queuing on the inbound carriageway of the A374 between the Lanhydrock Road junction and the Embankment Lane junction.
The road was cleared by 2.30pm.
