YOUNGSTERS on the children’s ward at Warrington Hospital will have been enjoying a cool breeze during the brief heat wave thanks to a postman.

Twenty six desk top fans were bought for the unit after a university student was talked into a sponsored hair cut during a work placement at Warrington’s Royal Mail rail terminal.

Andy Hopkins, aged 24, was studying at Aston University when he took part in a work placement scheme in April with Royal Mail working in logistics.

But by July his colleagues had persuaded him to get his long locks cut for charity and raised £864, of which Royal Mail provided £200.

Staff thanked Andy, who is about to start a logistics post at the Olympics, for their kind efforts.
