LTB:POL: Crown Office/Supply Chain pay disputes

Post by POSTMAN »

Further to LTB 880/07, talks have continued this week with POL, as agreed in respect of the disputes in both Supply Chain and Crown Offices.

Significant progress has been made on Supply Chain negotiations. There remain some outstanding issues and further meetings have been scheduled over the coming week, including one later today to discuss a meaningful productivity scheme.

In respect of Crown Offices, progress has been made in respect of the simplification of pay structures and the establishment of career paths, although, reaching an acceptable agreement remains difficult with POL continuing to refuse to move sufficiently on Saturday Premium and basic pay.

It has been agreed to meet early next week to try and bridge the gap in these areas however, unless significant progress is made further industrial action will be likely.

The following joint statement confirming the above has been agreed

We are pleased to confirm that we have made significant progress on the Supply Chain pay negotiations; however we still need to invest further time before we would be in a position to conclude an agreement.

There remain a number of issues requiring resolution; in particular we are attempting to construct a meaningful productivity scheme for the future.

We are still hopeful that we will be able to reach a solution that both the CWU and POL will be happy to support.

Crown Office negotiations are however proving more difficult although we have made good progress in establishing career paths and simplifying pay structures for CSAs. We recognise that progress is critical if we are to avoid further industrial action. We have therefore scheduled discussions early next week to try and overcome our current differences on Marked Time pay and Saturday Premium.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
